His story
46 Years. One Subject. One Teacher.
Mr. Riz has spent 46 years teaching chemistry. He taught for 17 years at a community high school and 29 years at a private high school, where he also taught at the college level. Three governors recognized him for excellence in teaching: Rudy Perpich, Jesse Ventura, and Arne Carlson.
When former students approached him about adapting his curriculum for homeschool families, ChemExplained was born. More than a decade later, the foundation hasn’t changed. Every lesson is still taught by one teacher who believes chemistry doesn’t have to be intimidating, only explained in words the student can understand.
Students know him as Mr. Riz. He creates a professional boundary with his students, even online, while remaining approachable and available.

The only prerequisite is Algebra 1 because Mr. Riz teaches all the math within the course. No outside prep needed.
